Peru is known for the ancient culture of the Incas and the world heritage site of Macchu Picchu but there is so much more to explore.
Peru was the fourth country on our journey and a country we would later revisit.
The Catholic Church has a heavy influence on social culture in Peru and LGBT rights in aren’t as progressive as Bolivia and Argentina, however you will find tolerance in the major cities in Lima and Cusco.
LGBT couples have hate discrimination rights and can openly serve in the army, however can not adopt and same-sex marriage is currently illegal (however there is currently a bill making its way through parliament and same-sex marriage should be legal within the next two years).
Being openly gay (especially for men) is frowned upon in rural areas and it is advised to keep PDAs to a minimum.
